A Brief History of St. Julie Billiart St. Julie Billiart was established in 1989. The newly formed parish was formed by combining St. Stephen, St. Mary, and St. Veronica parishes in Hamilton. The move was necessary due to the declining number of priests in our Archdiocese. The church of St. Julie Billiart was St. Stephen Church. The church underwent a major renovation to mark the beginning of this new parish. On May 12, 1990, just weeks away from the dedication of the new St. Julie Billiart Church, fire broke out in the building and the interior was extremely damaged. A second renovation occurred, and the Church building was finally dedicated on August 31, 1992, bringing the 3 parishes together in one place to worship and share their faith. The church was built in 1854 and in 1982 was placed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Our parish owns two cemeteries in Hamilton, St. Mary & St. Stephen. St. Peter in chains church
St Peter in Chains Parish 382 Liberty Avenue Hamilton, Ohio 45013
St. Peter in Chains Church was dedicated on June 23, 1895. In March of 1932 a twister damaged the church and on August 9, 1937 ground was broken for a new church. That church was dedicated on October 30, 1938 along with the school. The present church was dedicated on June 20, 1963. Scripture speaks of the church as being built on the “living stones.” Our parishioners are these “living stones” and along with our patron saint St. Peter, “The Rock”, our church was built. Our church has grown and evolved over the years but our faith in Christ has remained a constant.
