Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion
This ministry assists in the distribution of Holy Communion either during the Mass or afterwards, such as to homebound persons. Initial training using This Holy and Living Sacrifice as a formation resource from the Archdiocese. Ongoing training as Fr. Rob recommends. EMHCs are assigned in their parishes for Sunday and Holy Day Masses. There are also opportunities to take Holy Communion to the sick and homebound. EMHC's are strongly encouraged to spend time with the Blessed Sacrament during Exposition when possible.
Lector
Proclaims the scripture and leads the Prayers of the Faithful at Mass. Initial training and evaluation are required. Lector study books are provided. Continuing self-guided study is encouraged. Lectors should study, practice and pray the readings. At a minimum 1-3 hours on the week of their assigned reading. However, study/prayer of readings is encouraged for every week even if not scheduled.
Members of the music ministry lead the sung prayer of the assembly. There are opportunities for psalmists, cantors, singers, guitarists, percussionists, brass players, woodwind players, and other instrumentalists. This ministry does assume a basic ability to sing or play. Choir practices are Thursday nights at 7:00 PM in the church. Additional practices are added as needed near Christmas or Easter. Additionally, the choir has a concert as part of the German Village Christmas walk. As a separate ministry, there is also a funeral choir that provides music at funeral liturgies. More information on that choir can be found in the “Bereavement Ministry” section.
Ushers and Greeters
Men and women from 13 years old to adult assist parishioners and visitors coming to one of our regional churches in many ways before, during and after Sunday Liturgies. Come join this group of parishioners who greet and assist visitors at our regioinal parish churches.
SACRISTY COORDINATION TEAM
Responsible for preparing bread, wine, vessels, etc., for Mass and cleaning up after Mass. This is an ideal way to serve the Lord together as a couple, a family, or as a single person. If you already have a member of the family lecturing, serving, distributing communion, or participating in the music ministry, it would be another great way to participate at the same Mass.
